ProjectsRome Tiburtina High Speed Rail Station

Date 2001

State Competition, 2nd Place Finalist

Location Rome, Italy

Customer Ferrovie dello Stato

Category Infrastructure

The project revives atmospheres already familiar to Rome: the power of the facade of the Termini rail station and the architecture of Angiolo Mazzoni.

The large “mouth-like” atriums lead to the pedestrian gallery that crosses over the tracks: a true “mall” of articulated public and primarily commercial services.

Both atriums are firmly anchored to the adjacent buildings, designed to house office spaces complementary to the station and coherent with the master plan for the area, destined to become one of the primary gates to the city.
